she · verb; the poker diaries

12.11.04

The holidays are coming and my marriage is over. But there's time for poker, right? Right! But there's no time to keep track of hands and individual plays, both good and bad, that must be recorded and remembered if I'm ever to improve my game.

I'm up just over $50 on two home games played on the 1st and the 8th and according to some indecipherable notes, down $10 on one freeze out and up $30 on another.

I am way down on PartyPoker. Way way down.  I earned enough there to cash out and purchase a computer, leaving $150 online. I took that $150 and playing the $2/4 and $3/6 tables, turned that into another $800.

Well then. You know. The holidays are coming, right? Right!

I lost most of it. I'm scraping by with about $70 right now.

I've read it a hundred times. Don't up your limits until you are ready and you have the bank roll to support it. WTF was I doing in $5/10?

Honest to God. What's the point of playing poker if I'm not going to keep track of my play and take it seriously. I might as well be playing parcheesi for cash.  I might as well buy lottery tickets.

I was gambling. Not playing poker.
